I'm Avani, a high school freshman (as of 2021/2022) from Seattle and the creator of this website. I'm part of the vast Indian community that resides in America. As an Indian child, I own many traditional clothes, such as Salvar Suits and Lehengas. Although I've outgrown most of these dresses, I can't donate them to charity organizations within the US as people here have no use for them. So, my clothes often end up being discarded rather than given to people who benefit from them.
My mission is to save these clothes and donate them to underprivileged families in India. As someone intimate to this topic, I know how happy little boys and girls will be when they receive these dresses.
To achieve this goal, I have created a non-profit organization, Dream Dresses. The idea is to collect Indian clothes from families in the US and then later distribute them to impoverished kids in India.
Why should you donate? If you've outgrown most of your Indian clothes, this is the perfect opportunity to pass them on to someone who'll be able to use them. Many Indian kids lack and long for this beautiful attire but can't afford it, and this is the solution. You can donate any Indian clothing such as Saris, Salwar Suits, Lehengas, Kurtas, and Sherwanis.
Let's give these beautiful, traditional clothes a second life.
